John Jacobson, then 5, had just celebrated his birthday less than two months before he went missing. He was last seen on the evening of November 16, 1996, with his mother, Sandra Jacobson leaving 1100 University Dr in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The two had went to Sandra’s mothers (John’s grandmother) house to eat dinner. They stayed for an hour or so and left in Sandra’s car. On their way back home, Sandra called the Bismarck Police Department on her cellular phone. She seemed distressed and told dispatchers that she believed individuals were taking part in satanic rituals on a farm in Center, ND. When asked why she called the Bismarck Police and not Center Police Department or Oliver County Sheriff’s Department, she said she didn’t “trust them”. They got home at approximately 7:30pm and Sandra contacted her mother. The mother had wanted to bring her to the hospital because she believed Sandra was showing signs “mental illness”. Sandra agreed and said she and John would drive to her home after stopping at a service station to get gas, and they will go from there.  They were last seen by neighbors leaving their home and haven’t been seen or heard from since.

Her mother reported her and her grandson (John) missing at 10pm that night after she didn’t show up and couldn’t be reached.

Her vehicle, a gray 1990 Honda Civic, was located the following day abandoned at Centennial Beach near the Missouri River in Bismarck. The driver’s side door was left wide open, keys still in the ignition and Sandra’s purse laying in the front seat with only her license missing. A search of the beach showed no signs of the mother and son but police did find a child’s shoe that may have possibly belonged to John, although they’re uncertain if it is indeed his shoe.

The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department’s dive team attempted to search the river but had to cut the search short because of strong river currents and bad weather. Searches between Centennial Beach and the railroad bridge yeiled no signs of the missing mother and son, nor did their house or cell-phone records provide any evidence of their possible whereabouts. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

It is believed that she did stop at a gas station because her gas-tank was filled when her vehicle was discovered.

There have been many theories as to what happened that night. Everything from rituals to a murder-suicide committed by Sandra. But they are all assumptions and police have no suspects or evidence pointing in a particular direction. It appears as if they vanished into thin air.

Case of a Missing Toddler Kidnapped Five Decades Ago In New Jersey Reopened

Age-Progressed-Photo-BillyJones

Left photo shows Billy Jones shortly before he vanished and the right photo is an age-progressed photo of what little Billy might look like as a grown adult

Name: Billy Jones
Hair: Blondish/Brown Eyes: Blue
Height: 3’6″ (at time of disappearance)
Weight: 35 pounds (at time of disappearance)
Race and Gender: Caucasian Male

Date of disappearance: 12/17/62
Location: Vineland, New Jersey

William “Billy” Jones, Jr. was born in Bridgetown, NJ on March 5, 1959. Shortly after, his family moved to 302 Taylor Ave, which was a ‘nice’ neighborhood in Cumberland County, in Vineland.

Like many children, Billy, who was three months shy of his 4th birthday, and his younger sister, Jill Jones, were energetic and enjoyed playing outside. On December 17, 1962, the 3-year-old asked his mother if he could play outside with his sister. It was a snowy day that Winter and the two youngsters were spotted by a neighbor at 11:45am, bundled up in their snowsuits, playing outside the (neighbors) house. The neighbor suggested that the two youngsters go home.

During this time, Billy’s mother was preoccupied. She was feeding her infant and noticed Billy was gone when she heard a knock at the door around 12:45pm and opened the door to find Jill standing alone, carrying a plastic bottle.  Barely two at the time, Jill was unable to communicate fully but managed to tell her mother that “the bogeyman” took Billy. She went outside looking for Billy. He had suddenly vanished and the only known witness was to young to speak full sentences and explain what had occurred.

The police were called immediately and they did door-to-door interviews but no one claimed to have seen the young boy or anything unusual. Police, firefighters, National Guard, and hundreds of volunteers searched locally for days on foot, boat and by air. The tot’s disappearance became national news and many believed a child predator was responsible.

But despite the attention of media, Billy’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Billy reportedly had a dime in his pocket that was given to him by his mother earlier that morning. Both parents have since passed away.

The missing tot is one of the many children who are listed on the FBI website and in 2009, authorities reopened this case, which is one of the oldest unsolved cases of a missing child under 5  in the state of New Jersey.

‘We’re just trying to find out if anyone has any information regarding his whereabouts or if anyone might know who may have been involved in his disappearance,’ FBI Special Agent John Mesisca told FoxNews.com. ‘Back then, he was last seen wearing a snowsuit … What we’re trying to do is get the word out and develop any new leads and resolve the case in any way we can.’

Jill Jones, now a grown woman, still wonders what happened to her brother. The now 52-year-old believes her brother is still alive and believes whoever took him, was trying to replace a lost/deceased child.

‘It’s a gut feeling for me, I know he’s alive,’ she told FoxNews.com. ‘There’s never been a body found, never been anything found. I don’t believe he’s dead.’  She goes on to say, ‘I really believe that,’ she said. ‘I don’t think he was murdered. I really believe someone lost a child and they took Billy to replace him.

Jones has put alot of thought into that Winter day, evening going as far as seeing a hypnotist.

The family had a pet dog at the time, named “Babycakes” and according to Jones, Billy had a special bond with him. Authorities say Billy loved dog’s in general, and would do anything for dogs, so it’s possible that someone with an animal, a dog in particular, could have easily lured the toddler away.

According to the FBI website, Billy was last seen wearing a light blue or grayish snowsuit with a navy collar and silver buttons, a hat that matched his snowsuit and tan high-top crepe-soled shoes with yellow laces. He also has a vaccination scar which is shaped like a giraffe on the back of his left arm between his elbow and shoulder. He would have turned 53 years old this year.

‘I do believe he’s still out there, I just don’t know how to find him,’ said Jones ‘Maybe this is the year.’

MINOT, ND – Reachelle Smith, nicknamed ‘peanut’ by her loved ones, has been missing for six years.  In 2006, she was living with her aunt, who was her guardian,  and a roommate Leigh Cowen, in Minot, North Dakota.

Reachelle went to bed at approximately 10:30p.m on the night of May 17, 2006. The following Morning her aunt went to wake her up. She was gone. Cowen stated that Reachelle would be spending a few days with his mother. At first, the aunt thought nothing of it because of the close bond between her niece and Cowen’s grandmother.

Several days later, on May 22nd, 2006, Cowen Reachelle’s aunt’s van and when she found out, she phoned the police to file 3 missing person reports. One for Reachelle, Cowen and the van.  Cowen was located dead in the van in an apparent suicide, at the Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge northwest of Minot. Reachelle was not inside the van. Extensive interviews and searches for Reachelle yielded no clues. The deceased roommate is considered a prime suspect in her disappearance but without a confession or a body, some fear this case will never be solved.  She would be turning ten this past September and would be in the fourth grade. A newly made 10th birthday tribute was created for the missing girl.

Family members are holding out hope that one day she will be found alive.

A Myspace page set-up titled: – Bring Reachelle Home is believed to have been created by close family members. The page has poems, photos and a plea asking the public for help. Under the ‘about me’ section, it says:

Reachelle was nicknamed “Peanut” when she was born because she was so small. At times, if you asked her name she would say “I’m Peanut”. It took her family a long time to get her to realize that Peanut was just a nick name. She always knew her family loved her. When it came down to it, it was the family’s love that opened a window for someone to come in. Leigh was considered one of the family. Completely trusted and loved. He used the trust of the family to take Reachelle from a home that had so much love for her. The last time the family saw Peanut, she was 3. No words can describe how the family still aches for their Peanut to be brought home. Peanut’s family asks that if there is anyone who might think they saw her, know they saw her or anything, to please, come forward. Send a message to this site or contact the Minot Police Department at (701)852-0111. Any and all help is greatly appreciated to help bring Peanut home. –From the Family — “We miss you and think about you every day Peanut. No matter of time is going to diminish the love we have for you. We will not stop looking for you until you are home.”

Remember her face. Remember her name. Add one of the “Bring Reachelle Home” banners or a link to this page to your profile, website, forum signature, e-mail signature, anything. Send her photo and story around via e-mail. Please help spread her story, name, and photo across the world.

Thank you so much for your time, help, and kind words. We greatly appreciate it.
