Reconstruction of murdered man found in Dade City, Florida in the Winter of ’89

11/06/12, DADE CITY, FLORIDA  — Forensics experts from University of South Florida have teamed up with the Pasco County Sheriff’s office to recreate the face of an unidentified “John Doe” who was located deceased near an orange grove in the Winter of 1989. The reconstruction of this individual is fairly new despite the fact that his identity has remained unknown for over twenty-three years.

The remains of ‘John Doe’ were found on January 24, 1989 by an artifact hunter in Dade City, FL and authorities believe he may have been dead for up to two years prior to his discovery. According to Pasco County Police, he had been shot twice in the head and when his skeletal remains were discovered he was nothing more than bones and clothes, weathered by years in the open field.

Shoes: Together, they have been able to ascertain that John Doe was a white male between 30 and 50 Years old. He was 5'7

John Doe was wearing cowboy boots (pictured above) when he was discovered in an open field near an orange grove.

He is described as a Caucasian adult male between the ages of 30 and 50 Years old, 5’7” inches tall with long    auburn hair. He also had several tattoos which included a Confederate flag, a Nazi symbol and the initials HFD and had a pair of brown Givenchy glasses on him.

He was wearing a ‘Black Hills of South Dakota’ sleeveless shirt with a Native American picture on the back Indian on back and wore weathered light brown cowboy boots with mismatched socks, one of the socks were white with red stripes and the other was grey with blue strips.

He was found wearing blue mechanic-type pants with the name RANDY labelled on it, which could be a big clue in identifying him.

‘We’re really looking for the public’s involvement in this case because that’s what’s going to solve it,’ Detective David Boyer from the Pasco County Police Department.

‘There’s somebody out there that once they see this photo, it’s going to bring back some memories,’ Pasco Sheriff Nocco said. ‘Somebody knows something out there.’

LASTEST UPDATE – August 4th, 2012 –>

A man accused of repeatedly beating a woman into unconsciousness with a skillet was arrested late Thursday night in Spalding County.

And police said he was caught driving the woman’s 2005 Toyota Corolla.

Investigators have charged Mr. Rakheem Jerome Byrd, 27, of Hampton, with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and theft by taking of a motor vehicle, Lovejoy police spokesman Sgt. Michael Gaddis said Friday.

The victim remained at Atlanta Medical Center a week later with serious injuries , Sgt. Gaddis said.

She told police she met the man at a Tara Boulevard gas station on July 26 and gave him her phone number.

She said the attacked began between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. July 28 after the man arrived at her home uninvited and then refused to leave, Sgt. Gaddis said.

“The victim went upstairs and the suspect followed her, grabbed her by the throat and began choking her until she passed out,” Sgt. Gaddis said.  “Once she woke up, he began kicking and hitting her with the leg of an end table and dragged her downstairs where he threw her on the floor several times.”

The suspect also struck her several times on the head with a cast iron skillet, which police said cracked during the attack.

The woman blacked out multiple times during the attack. After she blacked out the last time, she awoke to find the man was gone. It was also dark outside. She went to a neighbor’s home for help Sunday morning and the neighbor called police, Sgt. Gaddis said.

Investigators said they found broken furniture and blood throughout the woman’s home Sunday.

“I think he’s done this several times before,” Sgt. Gaddis said. “The brutal attack, the way it happened.”

So far, police have not found any other victims, Sgt. Gaddis said.

Investigators had taken out warrants for Mr. Byrd’s arrest around the same time Spalding County officials pulled him over in the woman’s stolen car Thursday night.

Mr. Byrd remained in the Clayton County Jail without bond Saturday, according to booking records.
