Exactly one week ago today marked the 12th anniversary since the disappearance of Shaina Kirkpatrick, then 1, and her newborn baby sister, Shausha.

Kimyala Henson, the mother of both girls, had planned to take them on vacation to Sacramento, California and they were being joined by Henson’s friend, Christina Mayer and a man whom Mayer introduced as her husband, Curtis. They left their Portland home on April 4, 2001 enroute to Sacramento and although they are believed to have made it to California it is unclear if they made it to Sacramento.

It has been confirmed that on April 5, 2001, less than 24 hours after leaving their Portland home Henson and her daughters had travelled to Redding, California and were seen at Shasta’s Lodge with both Mayer and Oehring. This was the last confirmed sighting of the two girls and the last time their mother would be seen alive.

Henson’s murdered remains were located on April 29, 2001 in a Nevada desert but Shaina and Shausha’s whereabouts are still unknown.

Steven Kirkpatrick, the boyfriend of Henson and the father of both Shaina and Shausha had told authorities that both he and Henson had never met Curtis prior to April 2001 and police would soon learn that ‘Curtis’ was in fact Frank Oehring, a fugitive from Missouri who had a warrant out for his arrest at the time due to attempting to murder his ex-wife. According to his former wife Henson had led a group of Satanists and Mayer was a member.

Just over two weeks after both girls disappeared, on April 20, 2001, both Mayer and Oehring were discovered in a vehicle at a rest stop in Collier County, FL. Mayer was dead upon discovery after being shot to death and Oehring was near death suffering from a gun shot wound to the head. He died just days later at the hospital.

It was determined that Oehring was responsible in what police have called a ‘murder/suicide’. He also left behind letters detailing their plan to steal Henson’s birth certificate. Mayer had assumed the murdered woman’s identity in Las Vegas, NV shortly after they met up with her in Oregon. Nothing in the letter indicated they were responsible for the murder of Henson nor the disappearance of her two daughters however, common sense and the circumstantial evidence points to them and police believe they had something to do with it.

They two girls are considered at risk.

The first one is a photo taken at the hospital after her January 2001 birth, and the second photo shows Shausha as a 2 month old, her age when she went missing. Feb 9, 2013 UPDATE — Bedria Williams was found safe, according to Missing Bedia Williams Facebook page which is handled by the missing teen’s family.

An update status posting 5 hours ago;

FOUND!!! Bedria was found safe early this morning. The search is cancelled. I want to thank each and everyone of you for lending your help, for praying, and for dedicating endless hours to bring my sister home safe. Please continue to keep Bedria and my family in your prayers as we begin to heal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ♥

___________

Feb 2, 2013 — Oregon Teenager, Bedria Williams, Missing Since January 11, 2013

Bedria Williams is a 15-year-old teenager who is ran away from her Creswell home in Oregon on January 11, 2013. According to family, she was last seen in Sacramento, California eight days later on January 19th, and her family has received a phone call about a possible sighting in Michigan, although the sighting in Michigan is believed to be unconfirmed.

She hasn’t been seen or heard from since January 19, 2013 and her family is very worried. They believe she may have travelled back to Oregon or possibly Washington, but may be anywhere.

The missing teen’s family is reaching out to the public for help in locating Bedria.  The teen’s sister has created a Facebook page Missing Bedria Williams and the teen’s sister regularly leaves status updates reaching out to her sister and the public for help. One of the status updates is a message from their family to the public —

Thank you to each and every one of you who has shown us support. Today my family wanted to share what little we do know about Bedria’s case so that it may help us find her. We are continually fighting each day to find her and bring her home, we love her so much!

After leaving school 1/2 way through the day we believe she traveled to Portland, Oregon on the night of 1/11/13, where she may have made contact with an ex-con. From there, it is clear from a series of phone calls that she somehow made her way to Sacramento, California – My Step-Mother received a restricted phone call from a woman who said she saw Bedria in Michigan, she also said that Bedria was safe but didn’t want to come home. We were able to trace the phone call and found out that it was a Sacramento phone number, the phone call was not made in Michigan. It is clear this woman was lying. The police did not make contact with this woman so my father called this same Sacramento phone number and they told him that Bedria was with them. While attempting to go to Sacramento to find Bedria, my Dad received a phone call from the same number and was told that he was never going to see his daughter again. The Sacramento Police looked for Bedria at the house where the phone number was registered, but she was not there.
This was on 1/19/2013 and we haven’t heard anything since. There is a very real problem with sex trafficking in Sacramento, and we are extremely worried that she will get caught up in it.
I have contacted all of the news stations in both Portland and Eugene Oregon, as well as the stations in Sacramento. So far I have not been able to get our story aired on any station. I was told that they do not cover stories like Bedria’s because she ran away. 4 Days after the news station told me this, they aired a story about a 14-year-old boy who had just run away.

Please help by continually posting this story and Bedria’s page so that we can find her, bring her home, and start the healing the process.

WE LOVE YOU BEDRIA!

Bedria is described as a fifteen-year-old African-American female, 5’2” tall, weighing approximately 124 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Bedria Williams is asked by her family to please contact: Sacramento Police Department – (916) 264-5471 or the Sacramento Detective Unit – (916) 808-0560 (Anyone with a possible sighting is asked to called 911 as well.)

Whitney Heichel Suspect Admits To Downloading Child Porn And Hiding Two Handguns Before Arrest

Update: 10/27/12 GRESHAM, OR — Whitney Heichel Suspect Admits To Downloading Child Porn And Hiding Two Handguns Before Arrest:

Indicted for the murder of 21-year-old Barista Whitney Heichel, Oregon man Jonathan Holt told police how he had desperately tried to hide evidence and confessed to downloading child pornography, according to newly released court documents.

Holt left a trail of evidence as police followed him in the hours before his arrest.

Jonathan Holt, 25, discarded one handgun in bushes at his north Portland workplace on Oct. 19, according to documents released Friday.

Confessed: Jonathan Holt accidentally left a trail of evidence for police as he tried to dispose of anything that cold tie him to Whitney Heichel’s murder

He tossed another handgun in the grass outside the suburban Gresham Police Department, just before confessing to sexually abusing and killing Heichel.

Heichel also admitted to breaking into Heichel’s home to steal an iPhone before abducting her and to downloading child pornography on his home computer.

Holt was arrested during that interview.

During a brief court appearance Friday, Holt, was indicted on charges of kidnap, robbery and sodomy. He was earlier charged with aggravated murder.

Lawyer Conor Thomas Huseby, appointed to represent Holt, declined to answer questions.

Hundreds of people from around the Portland area gathered Friday at a Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Gresham for a public memorial for Heichel.

Her husband, Clint Heichel, spoke to reporters outside the hall, saying the family wanted to ‘give the community a hug’ and thank people for their kindness.

‘She was just a ray of sunshine,’ he said.

In the hours after Heichel failed to show up for work at a Starbucks cafe on Oct. 16, relatives and friends launched a wide-ranging search.

However, Holt, who was a neighbor, an acquaintance and attended the same church, was nowhere to be found, The Oregonian reported.

When friends finally spotted Holt nearly 12 hours later, court documents say he told them he had been on his way to work that day when he was robbed at gunpoint by two black men.

Holt didn’t report that robbery to police that day but when questioned by officers for the first time on Oct. 17, he said he’d been shaken by the experience and spent the entire day walking and crying.

Police say Holt repeatedly changed his story about the alleged robbery.

Whitney Heichel’s Ford Explorer, with the passenger side window smashed, was found at a Walmart six hours after she disappeared.

A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of her body on Larch Mountain, east of Gresham.

Court documents released earlier say that Holt told Oregon State Police Sgt. Jon Harrington that he waited outside Heichel’s apartment and asked for a ride as she was leaving for work.

Minutes into the drive, he pulled a handgun and told her to drive to Roslyn Lake, the document said.

Holt then forced Heichel to perform oral sex before fatally shooting her.

He then disposed of his cellphone at the lake before driving to the mountain to conceal the body.

Heichel was shot four times.

Update: 10/23/12 GRESHAM, OR — Whitney Heichel Suspect Admits To Raping And Killing The Former Starbuck’s Employee:

The neighbor accused of killing Oregon barista Whitney Heichel told police he waited for her outside her apartment as she left for work and asked her for a ride, according to a police report. About five minutes into the ride, officials say, he pulled a gun on her.

Jonathan Holt, 24, who lived in the same apartment complex as Heichel and her husband, then “took [Heichel] by gun point in her vehicle” to an area near a lake and forced her to perform oral sex on him, according to the police report that said Holt “admitted” the events to a cop.

He then allegedly shot and killed her with a handgun before disposing of his cellphone in the lake. He took her body and concealed it on Larch Mountain in Multnomah County, Ore., where it was later found, according to the report.

Heichel, 21, vanished on her way to work as a Starbucks barista Oct. 16 and her body was found three days later.

Dr. Christopher Young of the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s office said Heichel died from four gunshot wounds. Holt’s cellphone was located at the lake and he was arrested after a series of interviews reportedly didn’t add up and officials found his fingerprints and DNA in her recovered car.

Holt made his first court appearance Monday evening, appearing via closed-circuit television in Clackamas County court wearing a suicide smock.

He reportedly cried throughout the arraignment, simply answering “yes,” to the judge’s questions.

Holt was charged with seven counts of kidnap, robbery, sodomy and murder. His case will soon be presented in a grand jury, and additional charges might be filed. If convicted of the most serious counts, he could face the death penalty.

He did not enter a plea at the hearing and will continue to be held at a county jail without bail. It is unclear whether he has a lawyer.

Heichel’s husband said he had “bet on forever” with his wife of less than two years and has now been left wondering why anyone would hurt her.

“She’s just very kind and loved everybody,” Clint Heichel told ABC News in an exclusive interview Monday. “She didn’t do anything to deserve this. It’s just, why? That’s the only question. Why?”

Heichel said the married suspect lived in his apartment complex, and they attended the same church. Heichel said he and his wife cared for the Holts’ plants and cats when they were away. Heichel helped Holt jump-start his motorcycle two weeks ago, he said.

“It’s very difficult, we only had a year and nine months together and when you get married you bet on forever,” Heichel said. “She was just a beautiful little person, just full of love, and she was just a ray of light to everybody.”

Police have not reported a motive for the killing.

Heichel was reported missing last Tuesday morning when she did not show up for work at Starbucks, which was a five-minute drive from her home. Shortly after, her Ford Explorer was found abandoned in a Walmart parking lot with its passenger-side window shattered.

Her husband reported her missing at 10 a.m., about 2 and a half hours after she was supposed to report for work.

Heichel’s bank card had been used to get gas at two different gas stations within eight minutes, her husband said, and police had been studying a surveillance video from the first station.

A man told police he recognized Heichel in the passenger seat of her car at another station shortly before 9:30 a.m., but said a man was driving.

Updated: 10/22/12 GRESHAM, OR — Murdered Starbuck’s Barista Whitney Heichel Was Raped Then Shot Several Times:

The young Oregon barista Whitney Heichel who vanished on her way to her job at a Starbucks was sexually assaulted before she was shot “multiple” times, according to charges filed today against the man arrested in her death.

Jonathan Holt, 24, a neighbor of Heichel and a member of the same Jehovah’s Witness church, appeared via closed-circuit television in Clackamas County court wearing a suicide smock.

He reportedly cried throughout the arraignment, simply answering “yes,” to the judge’s questions.

He did not enter a plea at today’s hearing and will continue to be held at a county jail without bail.

“The cause was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner was homicide,” Dr. Christopher Young of the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s office told ABCNews.com.

The search for the missing 21-year-old woman came to a grim conclusion Friday night when police found her body and arrested a neighbor in connection with her death.

Police found Heichel’s body on Larch Mountain, a 40-minute drive up winding roads from her home in Gresham, Ore.

They arrested Jonathan Holt, 24, an acquaintance and neighbor, after a series of interviews reportedly didn’t add up and they found his fingerprints and DNA in her recovered car.

Heichel’s devastated husband said that he had “bet on forever” with his wife of less than two years and has now been left wondering why anyone would hurt her.

Clint Heichel said that the married Holt lived in his apartment complex, and they attended the same church. Heichel said that he and his wife cared for the Holts’ plants and cats when they were away. Two weeks ago, Heichel helped Holt jump-start his motorcycle.

Heichel is grieving the loss of his wife and the future they had planned together.

“It’s very difficult, we only had a year and nine months together and when you get married you bet on forever,” he said. “She was just a beautiful little person, just full of love, and she was just a ray of light to everybody.”

Police have not reported a motive for the killing and have released few details about when Holt may have approached Whitney Heichel or if he had been stalking her.

Heichel was reported missing on Tuesday morning when she did not show up for work at Starbucks, which was just a five-minute drive from her home. Shortly after, her Ford Explorer was found abandoned in a Walmart parking lot with its passenger-side window shattered.

Updated: 10/19/12 – Missing Starbuck’s Employee Murdered, Neighbor’s Arrested:

GRESHAM, OR. – Searchers found the body of a young Oregon woman who vanished this week on her way to work and a neighbor has been arrested, Gresham police said late Friday night.

The body of Whitney Heichel, 21, was found on Larch Mountain, a remote, forested area east of Gresham, Police Chief Craig Junginger told a news conference.

After collecting DNA and fingerprints and conducting three interviews over three days, police arrested Jonathan Holt, 24, of Gresham, for investigation of aggravated murder, the chief said.

Holt lived in the same apartment complex as Heichel and her husband.

The Starbucks barista reportedly left her apartment for work at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday on a drive that typically takes less than five minutes.

Her husband, Clint, called police roughly three hours later. He told investigators he tried to reach Whitney multiple times after her boss alerted him that she never arrived for her 7 a.m. shift.

Police said Heichel’s ATM card was used at a nearby Troutdale gas station at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday. Two hours later, her sport utility vehicle was found in a Wal-Mart parking lot with the passenger side window smashed.

A child later found her cell phone in a field that lies between the gas station and the Wal-Mart, giving investigators another venue to search.

Police have been searching Larch Mountain since Wednesday, believing that Heichel’s SUV was driven there.

“To say that this case brought fear and anxiety to the community is an understatement,” Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis told the Oregonian on Friday. “Our law enforcement personnel and our community searched for Whitney as if she were a member of their own family.”

Detectives interviewed Holt on Wednesday and Thursday before arresting him during a Friday night interview, the chief said.

There were “many inconsistencies” in Holt’s interviews, Junginger said.

Additional crime lab evidence received Friday morning tied him to Heichel’s vehicle, the chief added.

It was not immediately known if Holt was represented by a lawyer.

Pictured; Whitney’s husband, Clint Heichel, get’s a hug from his mother-in-law as he attempted to speak out Thursday, before his wife’s body was discovered.

Jim Vaughn, a family spokesman, addressed the Friday night news conference, thanking police for their commitment in the case.

“Really, words can’t begin to express the sadness that our families are experiencing tonight,” Vaughn said.

“Whitney was a very loving person,” he added. “She was warm, she was kind, she was everything you would want in a friend, relative, spiritual fellow worshipper.”

He asked for privacy for the family, saying “our loss and heartache is too much to bear right now.”
Police took no questions.

Update: 10/19/12 – Kids find cell-phone belonging to missing Starbuck’s Employee, Whitney Heichel:

Children playing in an apartment complex in Oregon found a cell phone that apparently belongs to missing 21-year-old woman Whitney Heichel.

Parents of one of the children told ABC affiliate KATU that the children found Heichel’s phone in bushes outside the Troutdale Terrace Apartments Thursday evening. The family says the phone had a screensaver of a picture of Heichel and text messages asking if she was okay.

“I was pretty shocked. I mean I knew right away … I recognized the face,” April Fletcher, the mother of one the girls, told ABC News.

“[The kids] started flipping through some of the text messages … from [her] uncle, and there was one from Scott that was trying to find out ‘where are you. Are you OK?’ So I mean it just kind of confirmed it to me that it was her cell phone,” she said.

The apartment complex is about four miles away from Heichel’s home in Gresham, Ore. Police have not said whether the phone belongs to Heichel.   Hours before the phone discovery, Heichel’s mother, Lorelei Ritmiller, urged people in the Portland area to keep looking for her daughter, who she described as the “sunshine” in her heart.   Ritmiller spoke of her missing daughter at the Gresham city council chambers Thursday as investigators continued to search for clues after she went missing Tuesday.

“She’s gentle. She’s compassionate … She’s this compassionate laughing person. Her heart is as big as the sun … This is just a great human being. This is a person you’d think no one could ever hurt,” Ritmiller said, according to ABC News affiliate KATU.

Ritmiller said she last saw her daughter Monday, the night before she disappeared. She said her daughter was talking about her future and the desire to start her own family.   “That was her biggest hope — to have babies,” she said.

Ritmiller said her daughter’s nickname within the family is “Mama,” because she’s always been motherly figure to everybody, including her six siblings.   Whitney Heichel’s husband, Clinton, only managed to utter a few words as he attempted to make a statement, but broke down and left the podium.

On Thursday, police searched a wooded area nearby and examined the surveillance video at a gas station that captured Heichel’s black Ford Explorer around 9 a.m. the day she disappeared. Police said they have also interviewed the gas station attendant, but would not elaborate on what was said.   Investigators have not released any specifics about the video or who was driving the vehicle. Many other businesses have provided police with security footage, reported KATU.

Police said they recovered potential evidence during searches of Dodge Park and Larch Mountain on Wednesday and Thursday. Police used red tape to mark where they found broken glass and tire marks in the heavily wooded area near Heichel’s home.   In a briefing on Thursday afternoon, Gresham Police Department spokesman Lt. Claudio Grandjean said investigators found “some important items” during their search, although he would not elaborate. Grandjean said that tips have been pouring in with about two dozen reported to police on Thursday and 21 on Wednesday.

The police have labeled Heichel’s disappearance “suspicious.”

“Generally speaking, stranger-on-stranger crime is not very common,” said Grandjean.

PORTLAND — The biological mother of a missing Oregon boy says her civil suit against the boy’s stepmother should move forward.

Desiree Young says in a motion to be filed in court on Thursday that Terri Horman should not be allowed to delay Young’s suit by two years. “She (Young) believes the defendant (Horman) is responsible for the disappearance of her son, and is entitled–under both the United State and Oregon Constitutions–to pursue these claims in a timely manner,” the motion reads.

Horman asked for the delay last month, saying a criminal investigation should conclude before Young’s suit goes forward.Young believes that Horman “seeks to bar all discovery into the circumstances of Kyron’s disappearance

Kyron Horman was 7 when he vanished from a June 2010 science fair and investigators have found no trace of him.

Police have not named Horman as a suspect or filed charges but have focused on her during the investigation.
