The Unsolved Murder of Sylena Jo Dalton And The Kidnapping Of Her 2 Month Old Infant Still Unsolved

AllysonDalton

Photo of Baby Allyson taken in 1998 as a newborn

Allyson Dalton has been missing since the morning of July 27, 1998 when she was just an infant. Her mother, 20-year-old Sylena Jo Dalton, was murdered at their second-floor apartment on 175 South Charles Street, Apartment B-8, Strasburg, Virginia and Allyson was kidnapped at the scene.

Both Sylena and Allyson were last seen alive by a family member at 7:45 AM but when a co-worker arrived at the apartment later that afternoon she came upon Sylena’s body on the couch. She had been stabbed to death and 2 month old Allyson, along with several baby bottles, were nowhere to be found.

Neighbors stated they heard no screams or disturbances.

Authorities believe both the murder and abduction took place between 9:15am – 10:30 am.

In 2001 Sylena’s mother filed a wrongful death suit against her daughter’s former boyfriend, Daniel E. Pompell, seeking $1.5 million in damages. She claims that Pompell killed Sylena and kidnapped Allyson. It is unknown if she was successful in the suit. At the time of the murder Sylena had listed Pompell as the baby’s “probable father” on paperwork filed with the state Division of Child Support Enforcement, according to a warrant filed in Fauquier County. The warrant also stated that he was at Dalton’s apartment “at the approximate time of her death” and “angry about the possibility of additional financial obligations on him if paternity of the child was proven”.

Police did search the Warrenton home of Pompell, then 29, but found no sign of Allyson and no evidence that would point to him.

The murder weapon has never been located and baby Allyson, who would be a teenager today, remains missing.

Missing NY Baby Levon Wameling Last Seen At His Utica Home Six Weeks Ago

Levon Wameling

Recent photo of Baby Levon who has last seen alive over six weeks ago

Levon Wameling has been missing for over six weeks. He was last seen at his home in Utica, New York on the night of May 29, 2013.

According to reports, Utica Police were notified when an attorney contacted them informing them that Levon’s father, Jevon Wameling, 27, left the child on his Jay Street front porch at 11:30PM on May 29th while he went around to unlock the back door, and when he got into the house and opened the front door, Levon was gone.

It was only after 2 weeks, on June 11, 2013 when the child’s mother and Levon’s stepfather confronted Jevon that he claimed the baby was missing and possibly kidnapped.

Utica police and New York State Police K-9 units spent hours searching the streets and wooded areas around 748 Jay St. for any clues about what happened to Levon but so far have come up empty. They have asked others to NOT form search parties while the investigation is underway.

Levon was last seen wearing only a diaper according to his father. He is now 11-months old and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Tuesday will mark the fourth year anniversary since a Whitman County toddler disappeared from his Aunt’s front yard

avery-blakeleyClassified: Endangered Missing
Full Name: Avery Bryant Blakeley
Missing From: Malden, Whitman County, WA
Date of Birth: December 10, 2006
Date of Disappearance: March 26, 2009
Age Then: 2
Age Now: 6
Race: Biracial (White/Hispanic)
Sex: Male
Hair: Brown Eye: Brown
Weight: 2’8″ Height: 27 lbs
Clothing: Last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a blue sweatshirt with red sleeves.

Four years ago, during the afternoon of March 26, 2009, Avery Blakeley was playing in his aunt’s front yard trailer home in Malden, Washington. His aunt was planning to move so she along with Avery’s mother were bringing items outside and would check on him every several minutes. By 12:30PM Avery had vanished and after 20 minutes of searching in and around the trailer home they contacted the Police Department to file a missing persons report.

averyblakeleyDozens of volunteers immediately helped with local searches. Police couldn’t find any evidence to indicated a kidnapping or foul play however, that theory isn’t entirely ruled out. They believe it’s possible that the missing toddler drowned in Pine Creek, which runs by the aunt’s trailer. They found his slippers on the bank of the creek and at the time the creek was very high with debris filled muddy/murky water which made it extremely difficult to search for a body. However, dive teams went out and searched for Avery’s body again after the creek’s water level receded, and conditions improved, to no avail. One would think that if he had drowned she would have been found by now.

Both photos were taken less than a year before Avery went missing

Police assume Avery is no longer alive however, a body has never been located.

Avery turned 6 this past December. An age progressed photo hasn’t been created as of today.

Do You Know The Identity Of This Child Who Was Found Deceased Over 14 Years Ago?

john-mebane-doe
These two composite sketches were created earlier in the investigation. Both were created based on the description given and shouldn’t be the sole identifying factor.

orange-county-unidentified-childThis composite sketch was created by a FBI artist who sculpted a face of what they think “John Mebane Doe” looked like.

Description of “John Mebane Doe”
Location:
Found in Mebane, Orange County, NC
Race:
White or possibly Hispanic
Sex:
Male
Hair:
Patches of dark brown hair could be seen near the skull
Height/Weight:
Believed to have been around 4’11” tall, weighing approximately 50 pounds
Estimated Age:
Medical examiners believe he was between 8 to 11 years old.
Estimated Time of Death:
It is believed that he has been deceased sometime in the Spring or Summer of 1998
Clothing:
Partially clothed wearing a pair of underwear, khaki shorts, black and white sneakers and white socks

Note: Keep in mind that the estimated age, height, weight, race, etc, are approximations and could be slightly inaccurate. The height might be a couple of inches off as well as the weight. The actual age might be a year younger (7) or a year older (12).

On the afternoon of September 25, 1998 a crew were mowing grass around a billboard off of Industrial Drive in Mebane, North Carolina, approximately 70 yards from Interstate 40. One crew member noticed something lying near the edge of the wooded area and upon further inspection he realized it was the deceased body of an unidentified child. The child, a boy, was partially clothed and had a $50 dollar bill tucked away in his pocket.

It’s been fourteen years since that Summer day yet nobody has come forward with an identity or to claim the remains.

Investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office dubbed the little boy, “John Mebane Doe”.

The death was ruled undetermined but probable homicide. His legs were together and the arms were slightly extended above the head. Police believe the child died somewhere else and was later brought to the location where he was found.

“The bones were not as you might envision, all connected. Things had disarticulated and fallen away,” explained Tim Horn, an investigator from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators have been working on this case for over a decade. They’ve passed the story on to local media, Doe Network as well as other online databases, checked schools, churches, the national database for missing children, etc, but have so far turned up empty. Surely someone knows this boy or at least met him sometime during his childhood. Theres a good possibility that he is from out of State, maybe even out of the US. However, until his identity is known he will remain in a small box at the Chapel Hill’s Medical Examiners Office.

John Mebane Doe would be in his twenties today had he still been alive. Do you know somebody from your childhood who matches the description and suddenly went missing?

jolkowski-age-progession

Age progressed photo of what Jason might look like at age 27. He will be turning 32 this year.

Jason Jolkowski was less than two weeks away from his 20th birthday when he vanished on June 13, 2001 while en route to Benson High School in Omaha, NE, to meet a coworker who had made arrangements to pick him up and bring him to work. Jason’s vehicle was having car trouble and was currently in the shop so he told the manager that he would walk, but they ended up calling him back to tell him that they could pick him up and bring him. Jason has a difficult time giving directions, and meeting at his former high school which was only eight blocks away seem logical to him. He took a quick shower, got dressed, and was last seen by his little brother, Michael Jolkowski, bringing in the trash cans. A neighbor also saw Jason taking the cans into the garage as well. He then made his way to Benson High School.

He never made it and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Witnesses claimed to have seen him walking on foot in the area of 48th and Bedford Street in Benson. Sometime between his house and the eight blocks to Benson High School something happened, and it happened quickly without anyone taking notice.

Jason was a young adult male and unlike a child, he would have somehow made a scene if someone was attacking him. This gives the impression that he was lured under false pretenses, possibly with someone he trusted. He was described as a very trusting individual who seen the good in people. Maybe someone offered him a ride and he accepted? No one knows for sure what exactly occurred that day.

Omaha police investigated and determined that Jason hasn’t used his mobile phone, nor has he accessed his bank account or cashed his recent checks since he went missing.

Family and loved ones have tried desperately seeking answers as to what happened to their beloved child, who wasn’t a trouble maker but instead, a quiet, reserved young man who had alot going for himself. He was smart, shy and a bit trusting which could render him vulnerable. He had no known enemies and was spending his young adult years working and attending community college. It is highly uncharacteristic of him to simply walk off and his family senses something happened to him. It’s been over twelve years and loved ones refuse to stop looking for closure.

Jason’s case received a large amount of attention and has been featured on America’s Most Wanted.

Between November 5, 2006 and November 24, 2006, Pennsylvania philanthropist Joe Mammana offered rewards of $100,000 for information leading to a recovery or a conviction in Jason’s case as well as 19 other cases.

A family website Missing Jason, was set-up to bring awareness to Jason’s case. But this wasn’t enough for the Jolkowski’s and they were determined to stop another family from having to endure what they’ve endured, and on October 6, 2003, two years after Jason went missing, his parents Jim and Kelly Jolkowski, founded Project Jason, a nonprofit organization that assists families of missing persons, and works to prevent more abductions from taking place. The website has been highly successful and has educated and helped thousands victims and families.

Mr. & Mrs. Jolkowski presented LB111, Jason’s Law, to the State Judiciary Committee; it was passed on National Missing Children’s Day, May 25, 2005. Jason’s Law established a missing person’s clearinghouse in the state of Nebraska.

Mr & Mrs. Jolkowski has a statement which has been used on many of Jason’s missing posters;

“Someone, somewhere knows where our son is and could help us find him. It’s been too long to live without knowing. We want answers. We want him back home with us, or at least to know what happened”

The Jolkowski’s have been a huge asset to families of missing people. They have saved many others from going through the same pain they’ve gone threw. But still, they continue to have that missing piece. IF everyone could come together and find the answers that they’ve been searching for, they could finally rest, move forward and have the peace and closure they’ve been desperately searching for.

Family Still Holding Out Hope For Son Who Was Kidnapped 27 Years Ago As A Baby

CHRISTOPHER-ENOCH-ABEYTANCMC600552e1Photo of baby Christopher and an age-progressed photo showing what he may look like today at 27.

Case Type: Endangered Missing
Full Name: Christopher Enoch Abeyta
Birthdate: November 28, 1985
Missing Date: July 15, 1986
Race: White Sex: Male
Age Now: 27
Height: 2’2″ Weight: 17 pounds
Missing City: Colorado Springs
Missing State: Colorado
Country: USA
Hair Color: Blonde Eyes: Blue
Other: Christopher is of Swedish, German and Spanish decent. His hair may have darkened to brown or dirty-blond over the years. His father and siblings are all of average or above average height so he may be as well, now that he’s older.

Christopher Abeyta was 7 months old when he was kidnapped as he slept on the night of July 15, 1986. His parents had put him to bed in his crib which was located in the parents room, and he was taken sometime after midnight and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

The garage door opener was missing and the basement window was open. His parents called police and reported him missing at approximately 6:30AM. When police arrived they couldn’t find any signs of forced entry however, the front door had been left unlocked threw out the night giving anyone the opportunity to sneak in. Like most cases of missing children, family was considered the first suspects. Christopher’s mother and father had separated initially but were working things out and his father had slept at the home on the night of the disappearance. This was the first time since the separation. Investigators haven’t cleared either parent with the case but have no evidence to indicate they are involved.

Quail Lake was drained in the days after Christopher’s disappearance. Nothing was found. Neighbors hadn’t seen anything out of the ordinary and local searchers turned up nothing. In the last 27 years not one trace of the baby boy was found. No clothing, no (confirmed) sightings, nothing.

christopher-abeytaThe parents of Christopher refuse to accept that he is dead and believe someone (who maybe couldn’t bare their own children), abducted their child and raised him as their own. They have created a website, Find Christopher, which is updated regularly and features a “Message to Christopher from his family” on the front page;

We have searched for you for 26 years.
Our lives have forever been changed by this cowardly act done to an innocent baby, and there is no such thing as closure. We have lived with the hope that you were raised with a family whom has loved and cared for you. Your family continues to investigate your disappearance and will not stop until we have answers and justice has been served. You have loving parents and 6 older brothers and sisters who play an active part in your investigation.
We love you!

This pictured of Christopher is posted by the family on their website (mentioned above). Under the photo is a caption which reads ‘The photo is Christopher posing with a Baseball Trophy that his Dad had won for him at a baseball tournament taken a month before he was kidnapped’.

The family is also offering a reward of $100,000 for information leading to the recovery of Christopher Abeyta — They’ve listed some possible locations of where he may be including Texas and New Mexico. It is unclear why they believe he might be in these locations.
