John Jacobson, then 5, had just celebrated his birthday less than two months before he went missing. He was last seen on the evening of November 16, 1996, with his mother, Sandra Jacobson leaving 1100 University Dr in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The two had went to Sandra’s mothers (John’s grandmother) house to eat dinner. They stayed for an hour or so and left in Sandra’s car. On their way back home, Sandra called the Bismarck Police Department on her cellular phone. She seemed distressed and told dispatchers that she believed individuals were taking part in satanic rituals on a farm in Center, ND. When asked why she called the Bismarck Police and not Center Police Department or Oliver County Sheriff’s Department, she said she didn’t “trust them”. They got home at approximately 7:30pm and Sandra contacted her mother. The mother had wanted to bring her to the hospital because she believed Sandra was showing signs “mental illness”. Sandra agreed and said she and John would drive to her home after stopping at a service station to get gas, and they will go from there.  They were last seen by neighbors leaving their home and haven’t been seen or heard from since.

Her mother reported her and her grandson (John) missing at 10pm that night after she didn’t show up and couldn’t be reached.

Her vehicle, a gray 1990 Honda Civic, was located the following day abandoned at Centennial Beach near the Missouri River in Bismarck. The driver’s side door was left wide open, keys still in the ignition and Sandra’s purse laying in the front seat with only her license missing. A search of the beach showed no signs of the mother and son but police did find a child’s shoe that may have possibly belonged to John, although they’re uncertain if it is indeed his shoe.

The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department’s dive team attempted to search the river but had to cut the search short because of strong river currents and bad weather. Searches between Centennial Beach and the railroad bridge yeiled no signs of the missing mother and son, nor did their house or cell-phone records provide any evidence of their possible whereabouts. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

It is believed that she did stop at a gas station because her gas-tank was filled when her vehicle was discovered.

There have been many theories as to what happened that night. Everything from rituals to a murder-suicide committed by Sandra. But they are all assumptions and police have no suspects or evidence pointing in a particular direction. It appears as if they vanished into thin air.

Parents Of Missing Journalist, James Foley, Who Was Kidnapped By Syria Gunmen On Thanksgiving Day, Speak Out

James Foley also known as “Jim” to family and friends, is a 39-year-old Boston Native and foreign freelancer who was kidnapped in northern Syria on Thanksgiving Day.

According to reports, parents John & Diane Foley from Rochester, NH, say their son was in northern Syria covering the civil war for Agence France Presse when he was kidnapped on November 22nd by unidentified Syria gunmen near the village of Taftanaz, in the northern province of Idlib.

“We just don’t know anything,” Diane Foley said. “We don’t know who has him.”

Initially, the Foley’s had chosen against reporting the incident and appealing for help, hoping it would help with their son’s release. But over one month later, after not hearing word, the concerned family have decided to come out with his abduction, and appeal to his kidnappers for his safe return.

They have also created a website, http://www.freejamesfoley.org, and have asked the public for help by signing their petition.

The website comes less than one year after the Foley’s launched a very similar appeal when James was kidnapped by pro-Gaddafi (Government) Forces. He was held captive in Libya for six weeks before being released.

‘We want Jim to come safely home, or at least we need to speak with him to know he’s okay,’ said John Foley, the father of James Foley.

‘Jim is an objective journalist and we appeal for the release of Jim unharmed. To the people who have Jim, please contact us so we can work together toward his release.’

According to Huffingtonpost, twenty-eight journalists were killed in Syria in 2012, including South African photographer Anton Hammerl, who was shot during their capture and left to die in the desert.  The deaths in Syria alone has prompted the Committee to Protect Journalists to name Syria the most dangerous country in the world to work in last year

Case of a Missing Toddler Kidnapped Five Decades Ago In New Jersey Reopened

Age-Progressed-Photo-BillyJones

Left photo shows Billy Jones shortly before he vanished and the right photo is an age-progressed photo of what little Billy might look like as a grown adult

Name: Billy Jones
Hair: Blondish/Brown Eyes: Blue
Height: 3’6″ (at time of disappearance)
Weight: 35 pounds (at time of disappearance)
Race and Gender: Caucasian Male

Date of disappearance: 12/17/62
Location: Vineland, New Jersey

William “Billy” Jones, Jr. was born in Bridgetown, NJ on March 5, 1959. Shortly after, his family moved to 302 Taylor Ave, which was a ‘nice’ neighborhood in Cumberland County, in Vineland.

Like many children, Billy, who was three months shy of his 4th birthday, and his younger sister, Jill Jones, were energetic and enjoyed playing outside. On December 17, 1962, the 3-year-old asked his mother if he could play outside with his sister. It was a snowy day that Winter and the two youngsters were spotted by a neighbor at 11:45am, bundled up in their snowsuits, playing outside the (neighbors) house. The neighbor suggested that the two youngsters go home.

During this time, Billy’s mother was preoccupied. She was feeding her infant and noticed Billy was gone when she heard a knock at the door around 12:45pm and opened the door to find Jill standing alone, carrying a plastic bottle.  Barely two at the time, Jill was unable to communicate fully but managed to tell her mother that “the bogeyman” took Billy. She went outside looking for Billy. He had suddenly vanished and the only known witness was to young to speak full sentences and explain what had occurred.

The police were called immediately and they did door-to-door interviews but no one claimed to have seen the young boy or anything unusual. Police, firefighters, National Guard, and hundreds of volunteers searched locally for days on foot, boat and by air. The tot’s disappearance became national news and many believed a child predator was responsible.

But despite the attention of media, Billy’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Billy reportedly had a dime in his pocket that was given to him by his mother earlier that morning. Both parents have since passed away.

The missing tot is one of the many children who are listed on the FBI website and in 2009, authorities reopened this case, which is one of the oldest unsolved cases of a missing child under 5  in the state of New Jersey.

‘We’re just trying to find out if anyone has any information regarding his whereabouts or if anyone might know who may have been involved in his disappearance,’ FBI Special Agent John Mesisca told FoxNews.com. ‘Back then, he was last seen wearing a snowsuit … What we’re trying to do is get the word out and develop any new leads and resolve the case in any way we can.’

Jill Jones, now a grown woman, still wonders what happened to her brother. The now 52-year-old believes her brother is still alive and believes whoever took him, was trying to replace a lost/deceased child.

‘It’s a gut feeling for me, I know he’s alive,’ she told FoxNews.com. ‘There’s never been a body found, never been anything found. I don’t believe he’s dead.’  She goes on to say, ‘I really believe that,’ she said. ‘I don’t think he was murdered. I really believe someone lost a child and they took Billy to replace him.

Jones has put alot of thought into that Winter day, evening going as far as seeing a hypnotist.

The family had a pet dog at the time, named “Babycakes” and according to Jones, Billy had a special bond with him. Authorities say Billy loved dog’s in general, and would do anything for dogs, so it’s possible that someone with an animal, a dog in particular, could have easily lured the toddler away.

According to the FBI website, Billy was last seen wearing a light blue or grayish snowsuit with a navy collar and silver buttons, a hat that matched his snowsuit and tan high-top crepe-soled shoes with yellow laces. He also has a vaccination scar which is shaped like a giraffe on the back of his left arm between his elbow and shoulder. He would have turned 53 years old this year.

‘I do believe he’s still out there, I just don’t know how to find him,’ said Jones ‘Maybe this is the year.’

Date Missing:  12/23/1986
Age at time of disappearance:  32
City Missing From:  Bronx
State Missing From:  New York
Gender:  Male
Race:  Hispanic
Height:  5 ft 8 in
Weight:  170 lbs
Hair Color:  Dark Brown
Eye Color:  Brown
Complexion:  Fair

Identifying Characteristics: Has the initials C.D tattooed on his left hand

Unsolved Disappearance:  Carlos was last seen at his family’s home two days before Christmas, December 23, 1986. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Suzie, the family dog, died and Carlos said he would be right back, that he was going to bury her. He did not have any identification (ID) with him. When he didn’t return, the missing man’s brother went to go look for him and noticed Suzie hadn’t been buried. Carlos was never seen again. He was a father of one and left behind a baby daughter and family. His family feels he would have never left on his own.

Carlos had previously suffered a head injury by being struck in the head, and has another medical condition. Doctors stated it was possible that Carlos could lose his memory at any given time.

His family created a Myspace page: Help Find Carlos Diaz under the about me section, a family member wrote:

*I need your help to find A Brother/Uncle/Father and Son who has been missing. Carlos is the type of person who loved being outdoors with his family/friends and dog Susie., but most of all his daughter Lesa. Wherever he had to go he was always riding his bike. He took that bike everywhere. Laughter & fun was always his Motto. He’s the type of person that would bring a smile to your face if you were down & out. He is a fun & loving person to be with, but on December 23, 1986 the family dog (susie) died everything changed. Carlos said he would be right back because he was going to bury Susie. After he left is when we realized he did not take any identification with him. It was getting late and my other brother Nelson went to go looking for him and all he found was Susie (unburied) but not Carlos. My mother and sister went to the police station to file a missing persons report, they handed a detective a photo of Carlos and what happened and his response was that my brother wasn’t eligible for a missing person report. He had to be between the ages of very young to 16 and 50-60 yrs. of age. So anyone between those ages were considered to have taken off. They kept his photo. Calls were made there after, months went by and the responses were “We do not have anything new”. Carlos would of never left his family especially his daughter. We would like to put some closure to this, so if anyone has seen him.
