April Williams was born August 17, 1983 in Washington D.C., Baby April was 3 months old when she was kidnapped on December 3, 1983 by an unknown female. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since, nor has her abductor been identified and brought to justice.

An artist drew a composite sketch based on the description of the unknown abductor. Keep in mind that the description is based on what the kidnapper looked like in 1983, and she may look entirely different now that she’s 30 years older so it’s important to try an focus on certain facial features including the eyes, shape of face, nose, etc. A very good identifying factor is the mole (or birthmark) witnesses said they seen on the woman’s right cheek. She is described as a black female who had reddish hair (at the time), about 5’3” – 5’4”, weight unknown (although she is described as thinner rather than heavy.)

According to police she may have gone by the name “Latoya”, although it may have been a street name or an alias.

Strangers, esp females, who abduct babies are typically rare. When it does happen many speculate that the unknown woman could have fertility issues and may have kidnapped the child to raise as her own. This gives more hope to one day finding April Williams alive. April would be turning 30 this year and could be a mother herself, not realizing the ‘mother’ who raised her was actually a criminal who kidnapped her.

Baby April was last seen wearing a blue sleeper with a red number one along with a pink and white snowsuit. She has a birthmark on her right wrist.

Police photo of Brian Mitchell Davis. 59, will spend the rest of his life in a United States Penitentiary, a high security federal prison in Tuscon, Arizona.

Police photo of Wanda Eileen Barzee, the wife of Brian David Mitchell and his accomplice. She was sentenced to fifteen years in prison and five years probation upon release, she will be approx 72 years old at that point. Barzee will also have to register as a sex offender.

Before dawn on June 5, 2002, Elizabeth Smart, then 14, was kidnapped from her bedroom. Her captors, Mitchell and Barzee, forced her to wear a burqa to hide her identity but nine months after her June abduction, an alert citizen identified Elizabeth threw her eyes, the only part of her body that wasn’t covered. She was found alive on March 12, 2003, nine months after her abduction just a few miles from her home, Her abduction and recovery were widely reported in North American media and internationally.

Elizabeth’s ordeal and recovery were widely reported and the subject of a Lifetime made-for-TV movie and non-fiction book. Ten years later, she is still an inspiration to many victims of abduction. She had gone to Congress to support sexual predator legislation and the AMBER Alert system, and on July 26, 2006, she spoke after the signing of the Adam Walsh Act. In May 2008, she traveled to Washington D.C. where she helped present a book, “You’re Not Alone,” published by the U.S. Department of Justice, which has entries written by her as well as four other recovered young adults. In 2009, Smart commented on the kidnapping of Jaycee Lee Dugardstressing that dwelling upon the past is unproductive. On October 27, 2009 Elizabeth spoke at the 2009 Women’s Conference in California hosted by Maria Shriver, on overcoming obstacles in life.

On July 7, 2011 it was announced that she would be a commentator for ABC News, mainly focusing on missing persons.

Ed Smart has become a nationally renowned spokesperson for child protection, advocating for legislation and non-profit organizations that focus on the prevention and recovery of missing children. Ed works with and serves on the board of several non-profit agencies including, the National Child ID program, sponsored by the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association), radKids; and the I Keep Safe program from the Governors’ Spouses Coalition for Internet Safety. German Girl Escapes Kidnapper And Alleged Rape After 3 Days In Rostock

German Girls Escapes Kidnapper

Photo above taken Tuesday, October 16, 2012 police work infront of an apartment building in Rostock, located in Northern Germany, where a German girl was held hostaged and raped for three-days until she managed to escape her kidnappers.

10/17/12, BERLIN — Police say a 17-year-old girl who was kidnapped after she left a club in northern Germany and allegedly raped while in captivity has escaped.

Officials said Wednesday they have arrested a 28-year-old suspect with a previous rape conviction. He is alleged to have kidnapped her at knifepoint in Rostock on Friday night and taken her to his apartment, where he beat her up and tied her up.

The girl was reported missing after she left a disco in the city on foot and failed to appear at an arranged meeting with a friend.

City police chief Thomas Laum said that, when the suspect was out of the apartment Tuesday afternoon, the girl managed to free herself and escape through a first-floor window.

The suspect was arrested later Tuesday.
