Case of a Missing Toddler Kidnapped Five Decades Ago In New Jersey Reopened

Age-Progressed-Photo-BillyJones

Left photo shows Billy Jones shortly before he vanished and the right photo is an age-progressed photo of what little Billy might look like as a grown adult

Name: Billy Jones
Hair: Blondish/Brown Eyes: Blue
Height: 3’6″ (at time of disappearance)
Weight: 35 pounds (at time of disappearance)
Race and Gender: Caucasian Male

Date of disappearance: 12/17/62
Location: Vineland, New Jersey

William “Billy” Jones, Jr. was born in Bridgetown, NJ on March 5, 1959. Shortly after, his family moved to 302 Taylor Ave, which was a ‘nice’ neighborhood in Cumberland County, in Vineland.

Like many children, Billy, who was three months shy of his 4th birthday, and his younger sister, Jill Jones, were energetic and enjoyed playing outside. On December 17, 1962, the 3-year-old asked his mother if he could play outside with his sister. It was a snowy day that Winter and the two youngsters were spotted by a neighbor at 11:45am, bundled up in their snowsuits, playing outside the (neighbors) house. The neighbor suggested that the two youngsters go home.

During this time, Billy’s mother was preoccupied. She was feeding her infant and noticed Billy was gone when she heard a knock at the door around 12:45pm and opened the door to find Jill standing alone, carrying a plastic bottle.  Barely two at the time, Jill was unable to communicate fully but managed to tell her mother that “the bogeyman” took Billy. She went outside looking for Billy. He had suddenly vanished and the only known witness was to young to speak full sentences and explain what had occurred.

The police were called immediately and they did door-to-door interviews but no one claimed to have seen the young boy or anything unusual. Police, firefighters, National Guard, and hundreds of volunteers searched locally for days on foot, boat and by air. The tot’s disappearance became national news and many believed a child predator was responsible.

But despite the attention of media, Billy’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Billy reportedly had a dime in his pocket that was given to him by his mother earlier that morning. Both parents have since passed away.

The missing tot is one of the many children who are listed on the FBI website and in 2009, authorities reopened this case, which is one of the oldest unsolved cases of a missing child under 5  in the state of New Jersey.

‘We’re just trying to find out if anyone has any information regarding his whereabouts or if anyone might know who may have been involved in his disappearance,’ FBI Special Agent John Mesisca told FoxNews.com. ‘Back then, he was last seen wearing a snowsuit … What we’re trying to do is get the word out and develop any new leads and resolve the case in any way we can.’

Jill Jones, now a grown woman, still wonders what happened to her brother. The now 52-year-old believes her brother is still alive and believes whoever took him, was trying to replace a lost/deceased child.

‘It’s a gut feeling for me, I know he’s alive,’ she told FoxNews.com. ‘There’s never been a body found, never been anything found. I don’t believe he’s dead.’  She goes on to say, ‘I really believe that,’ she said. ‘I don’t think he was murdered. I really believe someone lost a child and they took Billy to replace him.

Jones has put alot of thought into that Winter day, evening going as far as seeing a hypnotist.

The family had a pet dog at the time, named “Babycakes” and according to Jones, Billy had a special bond with him. Authorities say Billy loved dog’s in general, and would do anything for dogs, so it’s possible that someone with an animal, a dog in particular, could have easily lured the toddler away.

According to the FBI website, Billy was last seen wearing a light blue or grayish snowsuit with a navy collar and silver buttons, a hat that matched his snowsuit and tan high-top crepe-soled shoes with yellow laces. He also has a vaccination scar which is shaped like a giraffe on the back of his left arm between his elbow and shoulder. He would have turned 53 years old this year.

‘I do believe he’s still out there, I just don’t know how to find him,’ said Jones ‘Maybe this is the year.’

PITTSBURGH, PENN — Jamie “J.T” Thornton was just a toddler when he disappeared on October 4, 1986 while playing in his front yard in Allegheny County. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

For a toddler to simply vanish, i would assume he was kidnapped but because there is no evidence that points to a particular theory, he is listed as “Endangered Missing”

Jamie, was called by his nickname, JT, and was 5 weeks away from celebrating his second birthday which would have been November 12, 1984. He would be an adult, turning 28 last month and no evidence that would lead police to his whereabouts have ever been located.

In 2011, the Pittsburgh Tribune had ran an article that said J.T’s mother, Gloria Steffens of Overbrook, PA, became the first parent to provide her DNA to Pittsburgh police as part of a national project to link family members with the remains of lost relatives. Kortne Stouffer disappeared five months ago after a night out with friends

Image

Kortne Stouffer (pictured) mysteriously vanished over five months ago after a night out in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

DERRY TOWNSHIP,  PALMYRA — Kortne Stouffer is a 21-year-old graduate of North Lebanon High School, and a former  hair stylist who was employed at Ellie Salon in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.

According to police, Kortne was last seen in the early morning hours of July 29, 2012 at her apartment on West Main Street in Palmyra after a night out with friends, who said that Kortne was involved in more than one verbal confrontation earlier that night. One argument was between her neighbors and another with an unidentified woman who was at the same bar in Harrisburg that Kortne had gone to. It is unclear what started the fight.

Image

Palmyra apartment complex where Kortne lived prior to her disappearance

No part of us believes Kortne is missing because she wants to be missing.” said her parents, Scott and Wendy Stouffer.

“It’s hard to be happy-go-lucky when one of your babies is not around and you have no idea what’s she been through or who might have her,”  “How are they treating her? Is she eating and drinking water? The reality is that we don’t know if she’s dead or alive. But nobody wants to think that we may never see her again.” said Mr Stouffer.

Police searched in and around the apartment with the help of cadaver dogs and horses and later joined friends and family to search locally for any sign of the missing woman. Volunteers also helped with the searches but found nothing to lead investigators conclusively in any direction. Many people have been interviewed including the neighbors and friends and they all have said they have no clue as to what could have happened to her.

Brian Boyer, a family friend, owns Boyer’s Signs & Truck Lettering in the same town. He created posters which featured Kortne and her details on it. He used the money he gained from selling the posters to go towards a reward fund which reached over $34,500.

Boyer described Kortne’s disappearance as “weird” and loved ones say it is very uncharacteristic of her to simply walk off and they do not believe she did that.

Police also labelled her case as “highly suspicious” during a statement made two months after she vanished. They stopped short of calling it  ‘criminal’ simply because there is no evidence to point to that theory. But that hasn’t stopped psychics from starting their own theories and assumptions.

Many self-proclaimed psychics have flocked to the police  with their “visions” which hasn’t helped aid authorities but instead, it has started unconfirmed rumors and although authorities are acknowledging that psychic calls are coming in, the only person seemingly entertaining them is Scott Stouffer, 47, the father of Kortne Stouffer.

Mr. Stouffer said that some of the readings he got “scared him.” One psychic contacted him and claimed to have seen his daughter alive in a cage.

“Some of it I can’t comment to you because it doesn’t express the best outcome,” said Mr. Stouffer.

But although he’s entertaining the idea, he doesn’t completely believe it.

“How can I go to bed at night if I know that I heard something that day and I didn’t follow up on it, as ridiculous as it possibly could be?” he said in an interview back in August, 2012.

Image

Scott & Wendy Stouffer, the parents of Kortne Stouffer

The Stouffer’s have described their daughter as a “flower child” and they miss her very much and remain devastated. They hope anyone with absolutely any information regarding their daughter’s disappearance will come forward.

Kortne Stouffer’s Facebook profile showed activity three week’s after her disappearance which could have been the reason rumors started circulating about the missing woman being alive. Which is untrue.

Kortne Stouffer seemed to be enjoying her life and she gave no indication that she was planning to run off or harm herself. The young woman had written under the ‘about me’ section on Facebook saying:

Livin life 🙂  Life’s an Adventure, full of new beginnings and unexpected endings. Live every moment like ur last and have No regrets!

Her Myspace page, which hasn’t been signed into in a couple of years, shows the young woman was well-liked with an outgoing personality –

Hey!!!, so…. I’m Kortne!! I’m a total blonde but my friends still love me. I’m a cheerleader and I’m in track at Northern Lebanon High. This year is my senior year and I can’t wait for it to be over. I hope to go to school for vet tech but I haven’t figured out where yet. I’m confusing at times but if you stick around long enough you’ll learn to figure me out. I am currently single but that’s okay because I have yet to find a guy who can meet all of my standards. and it wooulfn’t matter anyway because I have learnd that relationships in this world do not last. but hey maybe I’ll get lucky! haha well if ya wanna know more IM me Nlblonde09

Photo of Erica Nicole Baker shortly before she went missing

Erica Baker was a 9-year-old girl who lived in Kettering, Ohio when she went disappeared over one decade ago. Her parents, Greg Baker and Melissa “Missy” Erica, were divorced and shared custody.

On February 7, 1999 at approximately 3p.m., Greg Baker “passed off” Erica to her mother. Less than an hour after getting dropped off, Erica asked her mother if she could walk her aunts dog, Shih-Tzu around Indian Riffle Park which is a local park not to far from her Kettering, OH home.

Less than an hour later the dog was picked up by Animal Control approximately one mile away after it was spotted wandering along with Erica nowhere in sight.

When Misty was informed that the dog was picked up she immediately contact police to report her daughter missing.

Police searched the neighborhood and asked locals if they seen the little girl. One person said he spotted the girl walking the dog near a large pond near the Kettering Recreation Center about  3/4 of a mile from her home. This was the last known sighting before she went missing.

The pond was drained but no evidence related to this case was located.

Police went around the neighborhood to ask locals if they seen anything unusual/suspicious but it was as if she just simply vanished. The case quickly became National news and was even featured on America’s Most Wanted but despite the attention, the missing girl’s whereabouts remain unknown.

She would be turning 23 this year.

This case is very similar to the disappearance of Steven “Steve” Kraft Jr, a 12-year-old Michigan boy who vanished shortly after he left his Benton Township home to walk his dogs. Both cases happened within two years of each other, both cases received National attention and both cases remain unsolved.

Karly McKenna Elliott was last seen over three months ago in Corona

Karly McKenna Elliott (pictured) disappeared over three months ago in California

Some reports spell Karly’s last name incorrect. According to the missing woman’s Facebook profile, her last name is “Elliot”

As of Feb 02, 2013 there has been very little updates regarding this care. I check periodically and will post more information once it comes.

Karly Elliott, born August 7, 1982, is a 30-year-old woman who was last seen at her home one month ago in Corona, California in Riverside County.

Karly was supposed to meet a friend on October 25, 2012 but she never showed up.  According to those who know the missing woman, her family spoke to Karly on October 23rd at 7PM. The last time they seen her was later on that night at 11PM, sitting along in her car, a red PT Cruiser which was discovered several days later on October 28th, abandoned.  Attempts to contact her failed and by October 25th they noticed her phone was disconnected and contacted police to file a missing persons report.

According to Seeking_TheLost Facebook page, her vehicle was found with the license plates removed.

According to reports, on October 23, 2012 around 4PM Karly had visited her boyfriend. She was then believed to be in the company of 32-year-old Jurupa Valley resident Alejandro Lopez, who is now being named a person-of-interest, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report.

Deputies were called to a home at 3:07 p.m. on Oct. 26 in the 6300 block of Frank Avenue, Jurupa Valley where Elliott’s family filed a missing person report stating that the woman had not been seen in three to four days. Her vehicle was discovered abandoned a few days later on October 28, 2012 near Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma. However, Karly remains missing.

A search for the missing woman in the days after her disappearance included the use of police canines and patrol officers across the Jurupa Valley and nearby areas, while relatives passed out fliers and questioned people in north Norco, Mira Loma and Jurupa Valley.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Officials said there was evidence of a struggle at the last place she was seen alive.

“During the investigation, it was determined that a struggle had ensued inside of the residence where the missing person was last seen. The Central Homicide Unit was contacted and assumed the investigation,” the report said.

It is believed that Elliott may have been a victim of foul-play.

An online-user commented on Missing Persons of America on November 17, 2012 under the username Karen Urgirl saying the following:

update 11-17-12 Karly called her mom the night of her disappearance telling her mom that she is being hld against her will and being beaten (w/a gun) and that felipe said he’s going to kill her and dump her body in the desert. It’s also being said karly’s mom is the trimmer for the guy who’s now inarcerated for cultivation of marijuana and (person of interest)karlys mom possibly was stealing from the trees. now its also said that there is a blk man involved in the crop cultivation who also kidnapped her from house on frank ave. and to focus on apts on Iowa ave. n riverside. now its been said that its confirmed that karly s dead . due to the amount of blood (kalys dna) that was found indicates karlys death by gun shot, multiple stab wounds ??? but have no body to prove her to be dead. therefore the search needs to be expanded outside of mira loma. this is some f… up sh.. that happened to Karly and that she died over. alejandro lopez felipe persons of interests. you ever think about what were her lasts thoughts before she died.

Police have labelled her disappearance as ‘suspicious’ and relatives of the missing woman believe she is being held against her will.

Karly is a trained Esthetician but her license in California has been expired since 2011. She is described as a Caucasian adult female, 5’9” tall, 150 pounds with a fair complexion and blonde hair that is sometimes curled or worn straight.

Karly Elliott’s Facebook page and although her page is set to private, it does show her hometown as Bullcity, Arizona and her current location set to Corona, CA. It also shows activities she enjoys including the casino, poker, bingo, etc.

The missing woman’s family is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts or the arrest of those responsible for her disappearance.
