Good teen disappears after hanging out with her friend in WI
Kayla May Berg, 15, was last seen on August 11, 2009, in Antigo, Wisconsin. The teen was just several days away from her sixteenth birthday, which would have been celebrated with friends and family on August 29, 2009. She was at her father’s home until she went to hang out with a friend. Her family drove her to a home in Wausau, WI, and he later found out was abandoned and doesn’t know why Kayla wanted to be dropped off at that particular location.
According to the friend, the two of them just drove around which was pretty typical. According to police, Kayla never made it home that night and hasn’t seen since.
According to those who knew the missing female, she was your typical teenager who liked hanging out with friends and didn’t like being alone, and no-one believes she ran off willingly nor was she depressed or upset, in-fact, according to family, she was the complete opposite, an upbeat, happy girl.
Kayla is described as a Caucasian female with brunette hair and brown eyes, standing 5’2” tall and weighing approximately 108 pounds at the time of her disappearance. She has both her ears and naval (nose) pierced and a scar on her right shin. She also has a scar on the right side of her nose due to chicken-pox scarring she had received when she was younger.
She is believed to have been wearing a long sleeved shirt, blue jeans and sandals.
As of 2012, Kayla would be 19 years of age.
A reward of $20,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for Kayla’s disappearance.
Antigo Police asked the FBI for assistance in helping with this case, as well as America’s Most Wanted but despite extra help and publicity, Kayla Berg remains missing.
Kidnapping of Infant! Where is Baby Bryan?
Bryan Dos Santos Gomes — On December 1, 2006, Fort Myers police began investigating the kidnapping of one-month old Bryan Dos Santos-Gomes.
Bryan and his mother, Maria de Fatima Ramos Dos Santos, along with a friend and the friend’s baby, were running errands in Estero, Ft Myers when they took a public bus. The unidentified woman asked them for directions prior to them getting on the bus. She followed the bus and when the three got off at their destination the woman pulled over her SUV and again, asked for directions. She also asked if they wanted a ride and they thanked her and got in her vehicle. The woman then pulled out a knife and threatened them. She let Maria’s friend, and the friend’s baby, go. But kept Maria and Bryan in the SUV, and demanded $500.00 and made threats towards Maria. She said she was going to Tampa, Florida but not to tell the police this or she would hurt the women’s families. She added that if they were to get pulled over by police, the women had to claim they already knew each other.
The abductor eventually dropped Maria off at the roadside near the Villagio housing development off Three Oaks Parkway in Estero, Florida, but kept Baby Bryan. She told Maria she had to wait ten minutes before calling anyone, then she sped away with the infant.
The woman has never been identified and Baby Bryan’s whereabouts remain unknown til this day.
Composite sketch of the female suspect wanted in connection with kidnapping baby Bryan — The suspect is described as a heavyset white or Hispanic female, about 5’3″, and 25 to 30 years old. She was reportedly wearing a black T-shirt and had her straight black hair pulled partially in a bun.
After reviewing surveillance tape, Police say the abductor(s) vehicle may be a 1998-2003 black two-door Ford Explorer Sport Edition. Ft. Myers Police searched registrations for vehicles similar to the suspect’s SUV, and checked to see if it matched any past police reports. They also printed new fliers containing updated information along with a composite drawing of the suspect and targeted locations nationwide where a person caring for a baby might go, such as local health clinics.
According to a Fox News article published in December, 2006, Fort Myers Police believe that Bryan was kidnapped and taken as payment because his parents, who were originally from Brazil, got smuggled into the US illegally, but failed to pay human smugglers’ entire fee.
In December, police brought 46-year-old Valter Coelho of Lehigh Acres, Florida in for questioning in this case, but he was released and was deported on Jan. 17, 2007.
Bryan Dos-Santos Gomez will be turning 7 this year (2013)

North Carolina Student Vanishes
On the day of her disappearance, Jamie wasn’t feeling well so went to the ER but because the wait was long, she left. She ended up going back to the ER later on. She was complaining of abdomen pain. She didn’t have a license so had gotten rides from others. She made it back to her apartment and spoke to her mother on the phone around midnight, telling her she wanted to go back to the emergency room. She then spoke to a friend and ended the conversation saying “I have to go, my ride is here, he is here” — That was the last conversation before disappearing.
Police conducted searches and interviews. They say she lived next door to a convicted felon, who was a person of interest in the case but was he was found dead. They’re now searching for any information that might lead them to Jamie’s whereabouts.
