FBI, Providence Police and the Department of Public Safety have been searching for a missing Brown University student who disappeared over two weeks ago in Providence, Rhode Island. They are hoping that new surveillance footage showing the young man walking will help in locating him.

Sunil Tripathi, 22, vanished without a trace on the morning of Saturday, March 16, 2013 shortly after walking out of his apartment near Angell Street in Providence. He left behind his possessions including a mobile phone, wallet and other personal belongings.

Aside from the surveillance footage police have very little to go on. They have been following up on every tip that comes forward but so far have turned up empty.

‘We don’t have a direction, we don’t have a possible area,’ Det. Mark Sacco, of the Providence Police Department, told the Philadelphia Inquirer. ‘That is the strange part of the case – it starts and ends in his room.’

The missing student’s siblings have been conducting many searches in the local area looking for their youngest brother. Their searches have taken them to coffee shops, stores, homeless shelters, soup kitchens hospital and morgues. They recently appeared on ABC News to talk about their concern.

Sunil is a Indian-American male, 6’2″ tall, weighing roughly 130 pounds. He is described as bright, outgoing and very social and his disappearance is highly unusual.

A Facebook page, Help Us Find Sunil Tripathi, has been set up by those closest to the young man.
