Kiley Hegger disappeared on Monday night, March 4, 2013 at approximately 11:15PM from her South Charlotte, NC apartment. Her parents said she went to bed at 11PM and fifteen minutes later they heard an odd noise and went to check on her and when they got to her room, she was gone and the bathroom window was open with the screen knocked out. They also found Kiley’s purse, wallet and cell-phone.
The apartment is on the first floor (ground-level).
Police are investigating the disappearance as a missing persons case despite them telling WBTV that they believe it’s possible she ran away.
Her family disagrees and thinks there is more to the story and that their daughter wouldn’t have run off, failing to contact them. They also don’t believe the teen would leave without her important possessions, especially her mobile phone.
‘She has no shoes on, no identification, no money,’ Gina Hegger, Kiley’s grandmother said. ‘She was looking forward to theater and volleyball tryouts at school.’
“She’s a naïve, young little girl who has a lot of living to do. And she just needs to come home with her family,” Hegger, told WBTV Wednesday.
Hegger went on to plead with the person(s) who may have taken her granddaughter, asking them to please bring her home safety.
“She was at our house on Monday. She said “Papaw, I’m getting ready to try out for volleyball tomorrow,” and she was all excited about it,” said her grandfather Gary Hegger.
Loved ones are extremely worried about her well-being. A candlelight vigil was held yesterday with over 100 people attended, and police and volunteers continue to search high and low for the missing child who had just celebrated her 13th birthday the day she disappeared.
