Missing Since – March 4, 2001 Jackson, Tennessee

REWARD: The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the recovery of Bethany Markowski and the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person responsible for her disappearance.

Bethany’s parents, Larry and Johnie Jo (sometimes spelled ‘jonnie jo’) seperated in January 2001. The couples split was bitter. Bethany resided with her Mother in Nashville, Tennessee but spent several days with her Father in Gleason, Tennessee in early March, 2001.

Bethany and Larry were scheduled to meet Johnie Jo at the Waverly, Tennessee exit off of Interstate 40, during the afternoon of March 4th, 2001. Bethany and Larry apparently spent half the day in Little Rock, Arkansas, then drove back towards Tennessee. They stopped at Old Hickory Mall in Jackson, Tennessee at around 3:30p.m. According to Larry. Larry told Police that Bethany entered the Mall alone while he slept in his car. He woke up 1 hour later and went inside the Mall to look for Bethany. He contacted LE around 5:15pm when he could not locate her. She hasen’t been seen since.

LE said Bethany was not on security camera at Old Hickory Mall on March 4th.There is no proof that she even entered the Mall.  Larry has denied any involvement in his daughters disappearence, Police however,  have questioned his version of events.

Several witnesses have claimed to have saw Bethany in the company of a Caucasion female shortly after she disappeared. The unidenified female was described as being between the ages of 42-45, 5’4 – 5’5 and around 180 pounds. They also stated she had dark circles under her brown eyes. They stated she had blonde hair that was clean but ‘frizzy’ and ‘damage’ and looked ‘unkept’ as if she hasen’t bathed wearing shoes that were torn and uncorrectly tied. Authorities stated the unidenified woman attempted to enroll Bethany into a Southeastern Tennessee School in April, 2001. One Month after Bethany was reported missing. The woman was later observed boarding a bus with Bethany. Investigators think they could of been heading to Moline, Illinois.

Authorities said they have not ruled out either of Bethany’s parents as suspects in her disappearence. Investigators also said that it is possible that Bethany was abducted by a stranger.

Her case remains unsolved as of 2012.

Markowski was last seen wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.
