10/08/12, WORCESTER, MA — Matthew Lein, known by family and friends as Matt, is a 33-year-old Sterling native who was staying in Worcester, Massachusetts with his wife, Jamie Lein, and their child when he went missing on July 23, 2012.

Earlier that day he attended a court appearance in Worcester Central District Court in connection with an assault and battery charge. After the hearing he used his credit card at the Ninety Nine Restaurant on West Boylston Street where he purchased a steak, two beers, and left a $20 tip. He then made a purchase at a local liquor store, which was the card’s last known activity.

Matt had gotten into an argument after stopping by the liquor store and stormed off and was last seen walking on foot down Rt 12, West Boylston St in West Boylston, MA.

His family reported him missing to Worcester Police Department on August 6th, 2012 after not being able to contact him for two weeks.

Mrs. Lein, his wife, is devastated that he is missing and all she wants is for him to come home to her and her children.
“We are just really, really worried about him,” “Not knowing is the absolute worst thing.”

Family, friend’s and WPD have searched and attempted to contact him to no avail. His last credit-card activity was at a Shell Gas Station in West Boylston, the same area he was last seen walking in. After trying to contact him via cell-phone they noticed it was off and couldn’t be pinged. He didn’t have his glasses with him nor did he have a vehicle.

Family and friend’s are devastated and miss him dearly. They’ve searched, passed out flyers and have virtually reached out to the public by created a Facebook group titled Find Matthew Lein which has since been closed.

Matt enjoys outdoor activities including hiking and being around nature and according to loved ones, he isn’t the type to simply walk off and leave his family behind, especially his child.

He was supposed to attend a September 6, 2012 continuation court date and when he failed to show up a default warrant was made for his arrest. The failed court appearance and warrant is unsettling to Lein’s family members. “This really has us worried,” Lein’s aunt Renee Winward said of Lein not showing up for his court date.

The default warrant that was issued is “not uncommon” in District Court cases, and will be valid until Lein is found or he comes forward, said Timothy Connolly, spokesman for Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early.

Matthew is described as a white male, 6’0” tall, approximately 210 pounds, brown eyes, muscular build with a dragon and spider tattoo on his left shoulder and the name “Chase” on his right forearm.
