Updated: 09/10/12 – Marie J. Carlson Reward Fun -
Marie J. Carlson has been missing from Ft Walton, FL since October of 2011. Foul play is suspected but the police have been unable to recover her body or build a strong enough case against a suspect up to this point.
She is the Mother of two beautiful daughters, Paris, 8, and Grace, 2, who now will grow up without their Mother to guide them and provide her love. She was a beautiful person who touched so many lives with her empathy and unconditional love. You can see the love for her by visiting her Missing Person Facebook page at the following link: www.facebook.com/pages/Missing-Person-Marie-J-C…
Her family would like to set up a fund to accomplish two things. First to offer a reward for any information that leads to the capture and conviction of the person responsible for her disappearance and likely death. The reward amount they would like to fund is $10,000, but will accept any donations short of that amount that will be used as a reward.
Second, any money that is raised beyond that amount will go into a fund to provide a trust for her daughters. The reward fund will be set up to be administered by three people including non-family member, a family member, and a member of the law enforcement agency working the case. Very strict guidelines will be followed. Once the reward fund is fully funded it will be placed into a separate account released only under very specific conditions including the condition that no one involved in the crime may claim the reward and a law enforcement official will determine when the reward is released based on predetermined criteria.
All money donated beyond the reward amount will be placed into a different trust account for her children. Any money removed from either account will require two signatures for release. Should the reward fail to be claimed by a determined date, the funds for the reward will be reverted to the trust fund for her daughters.
Please help us find the person responsible for this heinous act and the loss of a loving, beautiful soul. Marie never put herself first. We need to put her first now.
We believe a reward may motivate someone who is reluctant to share information to come forward with key information that will help solve her disappearance.
If you are unable to donate funds, please share her missing person page on your Facebook and get the word out.
Thank you for your help
Marie Carlson had just celebrated her 37th birthday two weeks prior to her disappearance. She was last seen at her home on Revere Avenue in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on the evening of October 18, 2011. The following day she sent several text messages to friends and family saying she was leaving the area to “do something she always wanted to do,” according to a Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office during a press release last year. — It is unclear if the messages were really sent from Marie herself.
Her ex-husband, Jeff Carlson, who resides in Kentucky had filed a missing persons report with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office later that week on October 24, 2011.
Marie gave no clue as to where exactly she wanted to go, and what exactly she wanted to do. However, a few days after she had allegedly sent those messages her vehicle was discovered abandoned in the parking lot at the Northwest Florida Regional Airport. The investigation determined that she did not leave the Fort Walton Beach area by flying or renting a vehicle from the NFRA. It was also determined that she did not leave the United States.
The last known person to have seen her alive was the father of her newborn child, James Flanders, then 44. The couple shared a home together in Fort Walton Beach. Prior to living there, Marie lived in Sierra Vista, Arizona between August 2010 and Feb. 2011. Flanders moved to Cochise, AZ near Tuscon with the couple’s children after Marie went missing.
Loved ones have tried in vain to get in touch with her, and feel it’s highly unlikely that she would stay away for a lengthy period of time without making contact with family, especially her children who she adored. Her daughter had celebrated her eighth birthday and didn’t receive a phone call from her mother which is something she wouldn’t have failed to do.
Marie’s sister said she had last seen her on October 15, 2011. The two, who have very busy lives and families, haven’t had opportunity to hang out and catch up so were glad to spend the day together. They took photos of each other off of Marie’s mobile phone and Mary then sent those photos to her sister who now has them posted on Missing Person – Marie J. Carlson, a Facebook page they have created to bring awareness to her case, leave updates, and to ask others to help aid in the search.
A recent comment left on MPMJC Facebook page by Marie’s family on February 17, 2013 (the comment is in regard to the holiday photo below.)
I’m posting this on behalf of a dear friend…. This needs to be said.
Found this picture on the Calvary Emerald Coast FB page, under the album Christmas Eve Service & Prep, you will see many pictures of Marie’s little girl, Grace. This picture hurts the most – James Flanders, his wife and daughter holding Marie’s baby girl, taken December 2011. A few months after Marie went missing. How can they look so happy, while her family suffers. This picture makes me sick. Grace does not need to be with them. It was some Christmas program where he was a rock star, the wife as Dorothy, Grace (Marie’s precious baby girl as Jesus) and his other daughter as Michael Jackson. James Flanders was the Pastor of that church! He stepped down January 2012.. conveniently after members of his church started coming forward about the relationship with Marie, James & his wife…something strange brewing in that “church”. A PASTOR, a PASTOR Marie trusted to lead her, follow God’s plans… what plans are those James?????? Yes, how did he find the car so quickly at the airport. Why didn’t he report Marie missing? So many things going through all of our heads and all of us come to the same conclusion. All the bits and pieces of his actions, all of it… all of us come to the same conclusion. Did you know, NO ONE at that church offered any help to Marie’s family, put flyers up nothing from the time she went missing. NO PRAYERS for her safe return!!! She was a part of Calvary Emerald Coast, she volunteered her time there. No one did anything for her in that church. We finally met some members who were a part of it and left it & knew people there. We were spreading the words in hopes someone would come forward. I thought a church was a community, where people are there to help you, guide you. Why did it take so long for any one to speak up? How convenient that in January of 2012… the Elders, Pastors of that church changed??? All new pastors, elders as of late January 2012. James was afraid because he knew Marie had family & friends that loved her. He couldn’t shelter her anymore in his world. She was opening up, she didn’t want to live in that “weird situation” any more. She knew she had her friends and family for support. She made plans with us. She registered to vote in Okaloosa county June 2011, does that sound like someone wanting to leave. She made plans with family & friends. James didn’t know that, did he?? It is out, it is in the open. Any one that wants to hear, will hear about it. We will get the ones responsible for Marie’s disappearance! CONFESS!!! Her family has suffered so much. Her Girls need closure, especially her 9 year old girl. You are a crazy person to think God will justify you for your heinous act. You should not preach anything!!! I would not want any one else to fall prey to you!
